Located in a spot that’s convenient for sightseeing on Awaji Island, yet surrounded by mountains in this peaceful setting—a place that feels like it could have come straight out of a traditional Japanese folktale—I was drawn to the old farmhouse with its impressive beams and the cow barn. I thought, “I want to run a vacation rental here,” so I made an immediate decision. Without going through a real estate agent, I simply asked a judicial scrivener—whom I knew through an acquaintance—to handle the title transfer, and I purchased the property about three years ago. I had already introduced myself to the neighbors and received everyone’s approval.

However, since I do not live on Awaji Island and my plans stalled due to a lack of startup capital, I had no time to tend to the property and ended up neglecting it. Now, it is so overgrown with weeds that it’s difficult to even reach the main house, and the buildings have deteriorated significantly.

I cannot bear to leave it in this state any longer, so I would like to pass it on to someone who can put it to good use.
